Lasting Change With the Colcom Foundation

Who We Are 

In the 1950s, Cordelia May had enough concerns about our planet’s future that she
began her charitable efforts to preserve the quality of life for coming
generations. Though she did not establish the Colcom Foundation until 1996, she
began her service in planning for the future. 

We, the Colcom Foundation, honor her legacy as we continue to watch how the
environment’s health affects human quality of life, and how human life affects
the environment’s health. Colcom Foundation is a philanthropic
organization
that gives grants to projects that would assist with these concerns. 

Environmental Impact 

In today’s world, the environment remains on the minds of many of us. The truth is
that, even if the environment could remain as it is now, each locale can only
support so many people. We recognize the need to take this into consideration
when setting policies that affect the total population of an area. 

We also recognize the need to protect what resources we already have. We work with
such conservation projects as protecting the waterways and key areas of land to
sustain a region. 

Colcom Foundation’s work has facilitated proactive environmental advocacy and
protection by groups, including the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, WeConservePA, Westmoreland Land Trust, Protect PT, and Fair
Shake Environmental Legal Services. 

Humanitarian Aid 

We haven’t forgotten those who May was protecting the environment for either:
people. We are aware of the people who get hurt by natural forces, such as
natural disasters. We are also concerned with the people hurt by environmental
policies that prove to be a disaster in themselves. Colcom Foundation grant funding for their
aid alongside our environmental grants. 

Naturally, our contributions make less impact if the populace doesn’t understand why
they’re given, so alongside our funding projects to make improvements directly,
we also support educational efforts for our areas of concern. Overall, we, the
Colcom Foundation, support a variety of project to protect and educate, both
when it comes to the environment and the humans that have been born into this
